Common Questions

Here are some of the most common questions asked by our BUDDY community.

To join BUDDY, you will need an iPhone and either an Apple Watch or Fitbit smartwatch device. Then go to the app store on your iPhone to download the BUDDY app. You will then be able to create an account to start your 15-Day Free Trial.

Currently BUDDY is supported on iOS version 11.0 or higher and iPhone Model 7 or newer. BUDDY is NOT available on Android devices yet but will be soon.

To receive all of BUDDY's features, functions, and benefits, you will need a Fitbit Versa 2, Versa 3, Sense, or Ionic. However, you can still receive medication reminders and boundary alerts without a smartwatch.

No, you do not need a phone and a smart watch. If you get the Apple Watch with GSM enabled, then you can use Family Plan to set up the watch and you do not need to have a phone for BUDDY to work. Note that there is usually a small carrier fee (ie ATT, Verizon, etc) for using GSM on the watch.

You can send alerts to as many family members, caregivers, friends, and health professionals as you like and who will agree to receive them. Each will need to confirm his or her email address, create a BUDDY account, and download the app onto his or her iPhone.

During the BETA period, we are providing BUDDY for FREE to BETA participants only. In return, we kindly ask that you provide us with your feedback and stories about your hopefully awesome BUDDY experience.

Alerts are sent to 911 if you do not indicate that you are OK or family members and caregivers do not respond after a default period of 5 minutes. CODE BLUE alerts are sent to 911 immediately. It's that simple – this avoids lengthy delays dealing with call centers, since your family, friends, and caregivers know you best.

Simplicity is our top priority. All loved ones really need to do is wear the stylish smartwatch. BUDDY takes care of the rest. Of course, a caregiver or loved one needs to scan in medications, and some smartwatches, like the Fitbit Smartwatch, will need to be paired with a smartphone.

Yes, you should have notifications turned on for BUDDY.
To do this, go to: Settings --> Notifications --> BUDDY --> Turn On "Allow Notifications"

Yes, please make sure sound is activated on your watch. This adds an extra layer of support when using BUDDY. To do this, please go to your Apple Watch and on the default screen when the clock is displaying, simply swipe up to display your watch settings. Scroll until you see a “Bell” icon and make sure that the bell icon does NOT have a red background with a slash through the bell. If it does have the red background, tap on the bell icon and it should change the bell icon to white indicating that your Apple Watch sound is on.
